Interior Style Makes A House A Home

I don't watch a whole lot of TV because I've got a husband that broadcasts in the NBA, a son that plays in the NFL. Everything in our house revolves around sports. But I watch Extreme Makeover now, and I do watch the ABC shows on Sunday nights because it's not ESPN, which is what our TV is normally tuned to.

One of the fun aspects of inspecting large and expensive homes is seeing furnishing and leather sofa work at the highest level. Unfortunately, that high level does not always translate to attractive! Good-sized decorating budgets does not always mean good taste. One such mansion sticks always in my mind.

Getting your office space location right can make or break your business. If you are a retail store, you want to be located with other modern rocker, near lots of foot traffic, restaurants etc. If you are a technology firm, it may be less important to be located down town depending upon the types of employees and clients you want to attract and retain. And then of course there is the precarious balance between budget and your idea of the perfect place.



2) Guess which home was my favorite in Fried Green Tomatoes (1991). No, not the home and living where Idgie and Ruth lived together. No, not Idgie's family's home. The home I love from Fried Green Tomatoes is the place where Ruth lived with her husband and mother. One of the things I love best about the house is the rural setting. The red clay in the front yard reminds me of the clay landscape of the Georgia Piedmont. The staircase inside the house and the hard wooden floors remind me of an antebellum house I've visited in Athens, Georgia. In the story, the home was located in Valdosta, GA, but I think most of the movie was filmed in several small towns throughout the state.

Keep in mind that whichever wonderful interior design that is hired will be inside everyone's living space. It isn't the same as a group of people working outside or on the roof, these people will be right there in the home.

When you're working on decorating a kid's room, make sure you furnish from a kid's perspective. It is important to remember that children see things differently than adults. Be sure they can easily access everything. Look at everything from a child's point of view and remove potential hazards.
